This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to web101byhan.dev (“we”, “our”, “Site”).
Overview
We operate a content site about web design and hosting. We use limited data to run the Site, measure performance, and show advertising where permitted by law and your preferences.
- We use cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies).
- We use Google AdSense for ads (see Advertising).
- We use Google Analytics 4 for measurement (see Analytics).
- We may use Buy Me a Coffee for donations and payments.
Note: This page describes our practices on this Site only and does not cover third-party sites we link to.
Information We Collect
A) Information you provide
- Contact forms: name, email, and any message you submit.
- Newsletter (if/when offered): email address and subscription preferences.
- Donations/purchases (via Buy Me a Coffee or similar): payment details are processed by the payment provider; we receive limited info like amount, time, and your contact email if you share it.
B) Information collected automatically
- Device and log data (IP address, user-agent, referrer, page views, timestamps).
- Approximate location (derived from IP), used for analytics and to comply with regional consent.
- Cookies and local storage identifiers. See Cookies & Similar Technologies.
C) Information from partners
We receive aggregated reports from analytics and advertising partners about traffic, ad performance, and conversions. We do not receive your payment card details from payment providers.
Legal Bases (EEA/UK/CH)
Where GDPR/UK GDPR/FDPA applies, we rely on:
- Consent for optional analytics cookies and personalized advertising.
- Legitimate interests to operate, secure, and measure the Site (non-essential cookies not set without consent in EEA/UK/CH).
- Contract to respond to your requests and provide resources you opted into.
- Legal obligations for records, taxation, and compliance.
How We Use Information
- Provide and improve content, site features, and user support.
- Measure site usage and performance (page views, reading patterns, referrers).
- Show advertising and limit fraud/abuse (frequency capping, invalid traffic detection).
- Communicate with you when you contact us or opt into updates.
- Comply with legal/accounting requirements.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We use Google AdSense to show ads. In EEA/UK/CH, we use a consent banner (CMP) and Google Consent Mode to respect your choices for ad storage, personalization, and measurement.
- Personalized ads may use your activity to tailor ads when you grant consent (or where allowed by law).
- Non-personalized ads use contextual information and limited cookies for frequency/measurement.
- You can manage Google ad preferences in My Ad Center.
Publishers (like us) don’t receive data that directly identifies you from Google ads.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use GA4 to understand aggregated Site usage. We enable IP anonymization and honor consent where required.
- Collected: page views, basic device info, referrers, events.
- Controls: opt out via our cookie banner or via browser add-ons/plugins.
Retention
We keep data only as long as necessary for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law. You can request deletion of contact messages or newsletter data (see Your Rights & Choices).
Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures (HTTPS, access controls, backups). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided data, contact us to remove it.
International Transfers
We may process data in countries other than where you live (e.g., US/EU). Where applicable, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses and provider certifications.
Your Rights & Choices
- Cookies/consent: change preferences any time via Cookie/Consent settings.
- Access, correction, deletion: email us to access or delete your data (contact below).
- Ads: manage preferences in My Ad Center.
- EEA/UK: you may have rights to object, restrict processing, data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
US State Privacy Notice
For residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Virginia, and other US states with privacy laws, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, and opt out of targeted advertising or “selling/sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. Ad personalization by third parties may be considered “sharing” under some laws.
- Opt-out of targeted ads: Open Cookie/Consent settings and disable ad personalization; your browser’s Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal is also honored when supported by our CMP.
- Requests: email us (below) and state your location and request type.
“Do Not Track” & Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. Industry standards are evolving; we primarily rely on our consent tools and, where supported, Global Privacy Control (GPC) to honor applicable opt-out rights.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date reflects the latest version. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
